Duties: Supports the IT Operations team with the deployment, patching, managing, and maintaining Windows 2003/2000 servers, Active Directory, IIS, Exchange, and Windows XP. This position focuses on making sure organization's end-user systems are secure, tuned for optimum performance, delivering required information to end-users, and interacting properly with other systems. In addition, this position will perform implementation and maintenance of applications as required.
Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot workstations, laptops, servers, backup devices, and monitoring interfaces in an Active Directory environment
Assist with OS building, configuration, group policy development, and systems management
Assist with administration of VoIP telephony system
Support end users with technical issues
Maintain and deploy custom equipment travel kits
Act within identified guidelines, standards, and policies
Work in an Integrated Project Team (ITP) environment requiring interaction with other server engineers, users, and client managers in identifying requirements, specifications and managing project planning activities
Assist team with evaluating technologies and providing recommendations regarding standardization, sizing, and costs for equipment purchases
Assist with updating operating system software to comply with support criteria
Perform in a fast-paced environment where project deadlines are critical and multiple projects run in parallel
Requires occasional work outside of normal business hours
Reports to Director of IT Operations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The ideal candidate will be familiar with information technology practices and procedures, including the following skills:
Understanding of networking technology at the physical (twisted pair, fiber optic) and logical (Ethernet, TCP/IP) level
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Willingness to work concurrently on multiple project tasks
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent problem solving/root cause analysis skills
Preferred Skills:
Experience with MS Windows Server, Active Directory, and/or Exchange
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4 Server
Experience working with Dell hardware
Education: High school diploma; currently seeking Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related technical degree
Compensation: Part-time starting at $9.62 per hour
